Shoulder Pain and Car Crashes

We manage many auto injury cases in in our South Buffalo office, and a widespread symptom we see in our patients is shoulder pain. Chiropractic is an excellent way to treat shoulder pain. Let's look at how shoulder pain is caused by a crash and how Dr. John Nowak can help you.

There are at least two ways that you can develop shoulder problems after a crash: by direct injury to the shoulder joint or by radiating pain from the neck.

Direct damage can be caused by striking your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the impact, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end crash. With this type of trauma, you'll often be aware of the pain soon after the crash.

More frequently, Dr. John Nowak finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn't immediately appear after a crash, but begins a few days or weeks after the trauma. This type of shoulder discomfort actually starts in the neck. Injured muscles or ligaments in your spine can tweak nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've treated both kinds of shoulder problems in our South Buffalo office. This care involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural flexibility and home exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

Let us help you recover from shoulder pain. Dr. John Nowak has helped many patients with the same problem, and we can probably help you, too. First, we'll do a careful evaluation to establish the root cause of your problem, and then decide how to restore your body's natural functioning.
